Rome Wasn’t Built in a Day!

January 9, 2018

It’s the beginning of a new year. I could go on and say things like: New Year, New You! Blah, blah, blah…

Really though, yes, it’s a new year. I like the new year because it seems like it’s a time for a clean slate. Some people do this for Lent, others at the beginning of the year. And, if you’re like me, you think, “Shoot! It’s January 9th and I didn’t stop eating See’s Candy, or make my bed everyday, or read for fun, or go to yoga!” You don’t have to do it on a date, any old date is fine. Just pick one. Some people find it useful to pick a day in the near future and think about what it’s going to take to really follow through. If you can do something consistently for 2 weeks, it really does turn into a habit. And, if you go off the map, just be better tomorrow. Give yourself a break, be kind to others and yourself and you’ll be great!

I love Before and After images. It really shows you the possibilities. Sometimes when I see them, I’m like…What? I love her before, she looks so natural, there is a natural beauty to her…What was the photographer thinking? Beauty, it’s a many-sided thing. If you’re happy with who you are, that’s a precious gift. If you want to tweak some things, figure out how it works for you and then do it. With love and kindness.

I think I’m the luckiest person on the planet. Really, I do. Knowing the right person at the right time is paramount to success. The story begins with a beautiful jewelry designer who wanted to make her mark in Kansas City. She needed a photographer. It started with a headshot for her LinkedIn profile and other media needs. Then, a couple of pieces of jewelry and then thinking long-term, a campaign.

Having the right people in place, the right talent and hardworking dedicated individuals to not only deliver, but to deliver with heart and soul is why this will be a success. Georgina has picked the right people to help her, she will be a success because not only does she have passion, she has perseverance. She has the grit to make this happen. I’m lucky to know her, she is going to be a force in the industry.alison barnes martin c. alison barnes martin c. alison barnes martin c. alison barnes martin c. alison barnes martin c. alison barnes martin c. alison barnes martin c. alison barnes martin c.
